Deborah joined the care management team after a long career serving others as a Rabbi; most recently with Congregation Nahalat Shalom here in Albuquerque. A native of Minneapolis, Deborah received her degree in Pastoral Counseling from LaSalle University in Philadelphia as well as Ordination, an MA in Hebrew Letters and an honorary Doctor of Divinity from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College also in Philadelphia. Her experience includes pastoral care for congregants, hospice chaplaincy, and geriatric chaplaincy at Martins Run, the first Jewish life-care retirement community in the U.S. She was a founder of the Chevra Kaddisha (the Burial Society) at Albuquerque’s Jewish Family Services and provided both social and religious services at Shalom House. She says she is glad to be able to reinvent her rabbinate in a way that allows her to still do good and meaningful work in the world and continue to serve individuals and their families. She feels that care management is a natural continuation of work she has always done. She is a back yard birder who loves being outdoors in nature and playing with her dog. Her passion is being connected with other people, being of service and social & environmental justice.
